Meiringen-Hasliberg is a perfect base for families and keen hikers to enjoy the swiss alps.

The Hasliberg area provides a wealth of hiking trails, many of which can be accessed from the doorstep in Reuti. There are also mountain bike tracks and the opportunity to "trottibike"  or "monster bike" - large scooters (with brakes!) for descending the mountain (see photo above). Great fun!

There are a number of lakes within 20km of Reuti, some of which have permanent pontoons with slides and large inflatables for everyone to enjoy.

There is a large cable car to and from Meiringen and for those preferring the easy option, there are 8 person gondolas to take you to the higher alpine stations. You can also walk down to Meiringen from Reuti along a mountain track taking about 45 minutes to walk down (a bit longer to walk up!).

Lift passes and trail maps can be obtained from the cable car station at Reuti.

Young children will love "Muggestutz"! Muggestutz is a local ficticious character who lives in the Hasliberg region. A local author wrote a series of childrens books about him and his life in the mountains. Not far from Reuti, there are two Muggestutz walking trails with wonderful activity stations for children along the way. Following Muggestutz trails is a great way of encouraging little legs to walk up and down mountains! See www.muggestutz.ch for more information.

The panoramic restaurant, AlpenTower, can be accessed either via a gondola or via hiking trails and is well worth a visit. You can't beat the 360 degree views of the mountain range the restaurant offers.

Other local attractions include the Reichenbach falls (where Sherlock Holmes fell to his death - www.reichenbach.ch ), the Aareschlucht (a 1.5km long stunning gorge - www.aareschlucht.ch/english ), Ballenberg open air museum (www.ballenberg.ch/en ), the rothorn steam railway (www.brienz-rothorn-bahn.ch ), the traditional swiss town of Meiringen (which has a superb outdoor swimming complex, climbing & bouldering halls, tennis courts) and the larger attractive towns of Interlaken and Luzern (both approx. 30 mins drive from Reuti).

There are three restaurants and a village shop within walking distance of the apartment.
